The pathologists’ view

The Royal College of Pathologists asked us if we could bring to life the purpose and impact of their work, and the work of their members, in a new approach to their annual reporting.

We found inspiration in the most intuitive of places: under the microscope. Here we saw an opportunity to amplify the privileged view of the pathologist and their awe-inspiring world — to engage readers in the ‘science behind the cure’.

Struck by how beautiful pathogens are when blown up, we developed a visual language around their strangely vibrant forensic detail; for us, reminiscent of abstract art.

This provided a fitting, engaging frame for the objectives and outcomes, insights and evidence, and facts and figures so vital to the college’s reason for being — to advance the science and practice of finding cures for life-threatening diseases and promote greater awareness and support around this.
